Seals were captured and marked with rings during the pupping season and were captured opportunistically. From detailed descriptive accounts for each individual, information of each seal’s natal colony, condition, and censorship, as well as an estimated of their date of birth and calculation of the duration of time between mark and recapture was derived. From original text descriptions of mark locations geolocated accurate positional information in a latitude-longitude format was also derived. Data collected in 1952 and 1953 were not documented in the paper files. However, a summary of records for 1952-1953 can be found in Hewer (1955).
